In 2021 I really struggled with my skin; I was not taking care of myself as I do now. Self-care felt like a long list of “To-dos”. Instead of making me feel good, it felt wearing and weighty. The dermatologists prescribed some changes for me, including a list of products that would help but at the time, I really didn’t have the money for it.
I did not want to create dependency on a product that I could not afford, and I wanted to use everyday materials that are readily available and affordable. I want to share a Skin Care routine that worked for me After I got up and decided to do it myself.
5 WAYS TO CARE FOR YOUR SKIN ON A BUDGET
Oil Cleanse – Cleanser: A great cleanser is a key to an effective skincare routine. Skincare is a part of treating your skin, and oil cleansing is more gentle. There are many oils out there, so you have to be careful about what kind you use.
It’s great to know what your skin is allergic to before getting started. Nonetheless, it’s great for removing makeup and extra debris. Some brands have pre-packed oil cleansers, but I like mixing oils.
There is a great way to know what cleanser works for you. Identify your skin type and what kind of Oils would benefit you and which would not.
Facial Steam : A great pore opener and a personal favorite. There are great benefits to this. It opens up and cleanses the pores, allows circulation, Hydrates the skin, and increases the effectiveness of skin serums and masks.
In Africa, this one is particularly famous for effectively avoiding the flu, and when covid hit, Most of us with Covid phobia probably did this every week. Often it is water steeped with ginger, garlic lemon and sometimes green tea.
My most preferred method of doing this step is over a bowl with hot water inside. However, you are free to use a steamer. You can use a towel over your head too.
Coffee Scrub: I personally love this scrub. You will need ground coffee and a liquid to mix it in to do this at home. You can use honey, yogurt or coconut oil. This recipe is excellent for the entire body.
You can choose to buy coffee scrub from the store or make your own at home. Either way, the benefits are advantageous for your skin. It is a natural anti-inflammatory, removes dead skin, Improves skin glow.
Egg white mask: There is no easy way to explain this routine. It is a skin tightening and rejuvenation mask with only two ingredients: egg white and tissues. Here is the video guide that helped me a lot.
ACV Toner: Apple cider Vinegar is a diverse item to have. One of its lesser-known uses is as a toner treatment. It may be too strong when used on the skin by itself. Mix it with water first and test it on the back of your palm before applying it to your face.
You do not have to use all these at once; as I said, it is important to do your research beyond this article and identify what works for you. It worked for me because I kept consistent and consulted my dermatologist about the routine.
