Why do you wake up refreshed after sleeping from 6 AM-11 AM but not 1 AM-6 Am? why sleep is important? Everybody wants to rise and shine like Hollywood stars but we are living in times when night-time is synonymous with anything but sleep. You text, toss, turn, post, watch and follow but zzz. No!
So, you think why exactly is sleep important?
There are times when you wake up an hour into sleep looking for food, even if you’re not hungry before bed. Finding excuses to not sleep is rather easy to sleep on time. It is a task in itself. According to the World Sleep Survey, 20 percent of people around the world are deprived of sleep.
So, why sleep is important?
When the pattern of sleep is erratic, Post-sleep inertia aka worn-out syndrome is a frequent occurrence. The world today is full of clever souls who cheat on sleep. I myself spent most of my life trying to unwind through sleep. There were times when I could barely sleep as well as when I could hardly wake up.
Again, why sleep is important?
People & the Internet would make you believe fancy notions about sleep like you need to immerse half of yourself in a nice warm bathing tub full of scented candles, essential oils, and a concert or two to sleep peacefully without a care in the world as your servants come forward to create the right bathing and sleep environment for you to retire in your silky and feminine nightgown because you rein in your dreams, your grace. May you rein long.
Who said sleep is important?
I’m currently losing sleep by writing about sleep because we’re in a global sleep crisis. Sleep deprivation has turned into a threat to health, happiness, and productivity for more than 45 percent of the population. Sleeplessness can ruin you like a Japanese banquet. It results in impaired metabolism, high blood pressure, unnecessary weight gain, low libido, and all those things that can lead to cardiovascular disease, diabetes, dementia, and cancer.
And, this is exactly why sleep is important!
We don’t have a Gold Company, you know! So, we’ve got to do with the cheapest drug available, sleep. Make every possible effort to sleep by using techniques like Progressive Muscle Relaxation or let your mind wander to fantastical things you like. You can climb the tree, swing through the trees, and, fly away like Drogon. You will fall asleep before you know it as your mind wandering gets more and more dreamlike.
Sleeping is as important as clicking, editing, and putting up the best selfies in the virtual world. Sleep is a different form of self-love. The more effort you put into your mental health and overall well-being, the more you sleep like a baby. It’s where all the magic happens. It’s where you’re at peace and relaxed. It’s where you dare to fly and dream the impossible.
No amount of caffeine or online validation can ever replace what natural long-term sleep can do for us. The sleep debt is not the kind that even a Lannister can pay. You can’t make up for your sleep debt. That is exactly why sleep is important.
