A love story, at least a convincing one.
“Your favorite movie is on TV.” She sent him a text out of the blue.
“If you kiss me once, I am yours forever.” The text popped at night on her phone.
“It was just a joke, some dialogue out of a movie,” he said when met eyeball–to-eyeball.
And, it conjured with little texts here and there. They strolled unruffled towards their future; dining together every day with glad and sincere hearts. They continued to meet relentlessly with joy and generous hearts.
He was like a song stuck on a loop in her head. He had slipped inside her thoughts and infiltrated her mind, waiting she yearned for him to his core and her body longed to be his.
She missed him more with every passing day and wanted to write “I miss you” on a rock and throw at his face to let him know how much it hurt to miss him in a long distance relationship after staying together for almost three years in what they labeled a “home”.
He wished they didn’t have a word for memories so that every new one wasn’t just a reminder. His love for her was so powerful that it empowered her even from remoteness; it enriched her and never tried to tear her down. It made her vibes better. He bequeathed her no gamble to question his love for her. He endeavored to make her feel lovable like she was his main like she mattered. It appeared too good to be true to her rather practical heart.
However, she loved him with the force of 1000 suns. She let him taste her inhibitions and kiss away her fears, make love to her soul for the rest of her life to come.
Her ice cold heart melted like a Popsicle every time he said “my girl”, or even cheesy shit like “baby’ or “babe”.
He couldn’t wait for winters to embark when there’s no sun outdoor and the whole shebang is pretty colors and a ton of movies on the laptop to watch with her, resting under a warm blanket nestling up to her.
He could release her from the restraints and give her back the control. He made sure he was there to please her and not hurt her. He envisioned caring for her mind, her body, down to the very depths of her soul. She unperturbed surrendered to his every touch. It was real, surreal. You find the best things when you are not looking. They found each other.
To her, the sign of a true soul mate wasn’t someone she wanted to accomplish super cool stuff with. She needed someone who could make any ordinary day fun. And, she had found her “the one”. She could enjoy grocery shopping and still have a blast with him. She looked forward to waking up on Mondays because he made it seem like a picture-perfect day.
Happiness became her new rich. Inner peace was a new success. And health was a new wealth. Kindness was the new cool. Them can have all the sun; she finally found her moon.
They started from the bottom and now they were a little bit above the bottom.
Falling in love was easy but believing in it was the hard part.
