As someone who actively practices crystal healing, the number one question I get asked is, “How does it work? Or “Does it really work?” Hopefully, this article can help to best answer these questions!
What do Crystals do?
Supposedly holding or placing the crystal on the body is thought to promote healing on a physical, emotional, and spiritual level. It does so but interacting with your body’s energy or chakra. Some crystals aid in stress relief, whereas others promote clear communication or creativity.
How to use crystals?
Here are some of the most popular ways crystals are used:
During a meditation – you can use crystals to help cleanse or promote the energy you seek.
Putting them on your body – Putting crystals on specific parts of the body is said to target certain chakras.
Wearing it as jewelry – This is one of the most popular methods. Most people can get their crystals in the form of a bracelet or necklace. If you have a smaller stone, you can get a pendant necklace and insert the crystal.

Amethyst – Assists in calming the mind, reducing insomnia, and It is associated with the Third Eye & Crown Chakra.
Clear Quartz -This stone is known as the Master Healer because it can be used across the body or amplify crystals’ energy. It is connected to all chakras.
Rose Quartz – One of the more popular healing stones, this aids in the healing and strengthening of the heart and allowing more love to flow in and out. It is also associated with fertility. It is connected to the heart chakra.
Tigers Eye– Balances emotions, reduces headaches, aids the digestive organs, spleen, pancreas, and colon. It helps the reproductive system, relieves asthma attacks, and enhances night vision. It is associated with the sacral and solar plexus chakra.
Black Tourmaline – Aids sleep, strengthens the immune system and provides pain relief. It helps with the adrenal glands, kidneys, spinal column, colon & legs. It is connected to the base chakra.
Selenite – This stone enhances clarity of the mind and expanding the awareness of self. It is said to calm nerves and enhance willpower.
Sodalite – Sodalite helps balance the metabolism and cleanses the lymphatic system, reducing inflammation and boosting immunity. It can also help clear electromagnetic energy and pollution. It is connected to the throat and third eye chakras.
Another popular healing stone is Moldavite. Unless you’re ready for drastic changes in your life, do not get this stone. It has been said that wearing it for a few hours a day will help to remove any blockages in your life, including but not limited to family, friends, a job, and things of that nature.
So, do they actually work?
To answer this question, no legitimate studies have been conducted to back up the claims that crystals utter vibrations that affect our mind, body, and soul. However, in 1880, Pierre Curie, a French physicist, was able to discover that putting pressure on various crystals can create electricity. These crystals include quartz, tourmaline, and even topaz.

Although crystal healing is seen as alternative medicine and considered under the placebo effect, crystal healing has a temporary effect on the body. But of course, there are other methods of healing that are much more effective. Crystals can be beneficial, but in no way have they been confirmed to cure disease and illness.
